LA County Public Health warns of measles-infected travelers visiting local attractions, including Universal Studios and the Santa Monica Pier

Los Angeles County health officials issued an exposure alert Saturday about an unidentified traveler with measles who traveled to a location in the county between March 30 and April 1.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said it received notification of the carrier from the California Department of Public Health. During those three days he traveled to nearly a dozen locations, most notably Universal City and the Sheraton Hotel on West Century Boulevard near Los Angeles International Airport.

Health officials said the man took a Universal tram and took several rides, visiting a Sheraton gym and a local restaurant. The full list is linked here.

Other potential exposure sites are still under investigation.

Health officials said anyone traveling to affected areas on certain days should ensure they are vaccinated against measles.

Los Angeles County Health Officer Mundu Davis said in a press release: “Measles is spread through the air and direct contact. Don’t get rid of it.”

Symptoms appear three weeks after exposure.
