Amazon to open a distribution center in Alabama

The Amazon group announces plans to open a distribution center in Bessemer Alabama.

The American e-commerce giant will create some 1,500 full-time jobs. It currently operates a sorting center in the region, in the city of Mobile.

“Alabama has a talented workforce and we look forward to making a positive economic impact in a state where we are committed to providing great job opportunities and an exceptional customer experience,” said Mark Stewart, Amazon’s Vice President of North America Customer Fulfillment.

This new processing center will use the latest technologies in robotics and automation.

According to The Birmingham Business Alliance (BBA), the new Amazon facility will bring an economic impact of $700 million to Bessemer.
